JOB POSTING FOR PART-TIME EDITOR ASSISTANT FOR THE SAN MAGAZINE YOUTH SECTION

SAN - Serbian Canadian magazine, is looking for a dynamic person who has a passion for journalism, writing, editing, publishing, design and/or marketing. The candidate could be a student, could have completed a university or college program in the related fields, or could be looking to start or continue their career and gain experience in the magazine and internet media fields.

Major responsibilities:

• Leading and coordinating for the SAN magazine sections Young Journalists and Our Youth. The magazine is published seasonally, four times per year.
• Recruiting young people to write for SAN media.
• Interviewing young people for the magazine.
• Recruiting young people for other creative work, such as illustrations, cartoons, design of promotional flyers etc.
• Cooperating with the magazine editorial board, editor, translator, designer, web administrator.
• Organizing annual contest for young people (story writing, article, cartoon or similar).
• Collaborating with the magazine social media administrators and suggesting material to be posted on Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Facebook. Helping SAN social media to expand the social media networks with the young people of Serbian origin.
• On his/her own initiative, the candidate may also have opportunity to write articles for other sections in SAN magazine, to give constructive feedback related to SAN media, to gain additional knowledge related to the magazine editing and publishing, etc.

Job qualifications:

Past experience in the field is not necessary.

Fair knowledge of Serbian language, verbal skills and understanding is required. Reading and writing in Serbian are the assets.

Studying or having a completed degree in: journalism, publishing, media, literature, marketing or any other related program in university or college in Canada or USA.

Passion for the career development in the field of media publishing and journalism.

Interest in the Serbian heritage, culture, tradition, history and language.
