Editor's Note, Spring 2024

At the beginning of April, we had the opportunity to experience a complete solar eclipse here in Ontario. This magical phenom-enon of nature truly fascinated me. Suddenly, day turned  into night, and then we had day-light again, all in a matter of minutes! When it was all over, I had a somewhat unsettling feeling at the thought of how much the cir-cumstances in this world could change in no time, both due to incomprehensible power of nature, and the brinkmanship of humanity, which is on the verge of World War III, nuclear catastrophes, and even self-destruction.

But SAN, as usual, continues to deal with brighter topics, ones which do not con-cern politics, in the hopes of radiateing posi-tive and optimistic views. In this issue you will have the opportunity to read an exceptional conversation with our Serb countryman and Nunavut inhabitant and learn a lot about the Inuit tribe. We also write about our great city of Toronto and ar-chitecture in the eastern waterfront, which significantly enhances the city’s beauty. In celebration of the 20th anniversary  we are publishing a report on the basketball club „Trojka“, and there are also articles about various events happening in the dynamic Ser-bian community in Toronto during the past few months. We pre-sent Serbia through a vibrant article about hotel Moskva. There is also a nostalgic article about the 40th anniversary of the Winter Olympics in Sarajevo which will evoke memories and some tears from our readers, especially those who lived in this city located on the Miljacka river during this period of time. In this issue, SAN also publishes an exclusive article about Air Serbia and finds out the answer to the widely asked question of why there no direct flight between Toronto and Belgrade.

As our readers already know, the last issue of SAN was a bilingual issue, both in Serbian and in English.  After surveying our readers, as well as analyzing the financial sustainability of such a project, the management of the magazine has decided to contin-ue with this hybrid format, with content predominantly in Serbian and a certain number of articles translated into English, mostly those that are of interest to our younger readership.
