SAN organized a successful event for empowering multicultural immigrants, newcomers and women for success in Canadian society, work and business with special guest Yvan Baker, MPP for Etobicoke Centre

On January 14th, 2018, SAN magazine organized a successful event, “Empowering multicultural immigrants, newcomers and women for success in Canadian society, work and business”. The event was financed by the government of Ontario and brought together new immigrants, many mentors, various speakers and members of SAN.

Ljiljana Vujinovnić-Ilić opened the event with a presentation on career success for immigrant engineers and project managers, followed by a presentation by Dawn Frail on overcoming barriers and breaking the glass ceiling in the workplace for women immigrants in Canada. Vesna Nedić addressed the audience with a discussion on the importance of mentors and Kimberlei Lowrie held a talk on financial literacy. The first part of the program was concluded by Yvan Baker, MPP for Etobicoke Centre, who greeted the attendees and event organizers.

The second half of the event continued in the same positive ambiance and was dedicated to mentorship. New immigrants had the opportunity to get to know one another and speak with successful professionals from a range of sectors including telecommunications, finance and education.

SAN would like to thank all presenters, mentors, and volunteers for their participation and cooperation. Once again we have shown that together, there is so much we can achieve.
